Relief Compilation for Japan – Out Now!
Earlier, I wrote about a dark ambient relief compilation for Japan – specifically for victims of the horrible earthquake and its consequences in march 2011.
…
It just so happens that some artists of the Dark Ambient Facebook Group have come together and donated their tracks to a self-organized charity compilation. One completely new xun track will be featured on the compilation.
All revenues will be directed towards a trusted organization to aid the victims and the suffering of Fukushima. More details to follow.
…
It is available for online purchase now.
- All revenues (about 91% of the buying price) will go to the New-York-based Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund.
- The rest (about 9%) will go to the music hosters. We (the artists) make no profit and the music hosters fee is unfortunately inevitable.
- The funded money will go via the Japan Society to these recipients.
- About 5 hours of pure dark ambient music for just about 10 $/ 9 € / 7 £ (specific prices on the download pages below) for a very good cause!
Download Pages:
- iTunes (international)
- Amazon US
- Amazon UK
- Amazon Germany
- Zune (international)
- …more to follow (Rhapsody, Napster, …)
Please support us in this project to help the victims of this horrible event and get some wonderful music!

Remember Chernobyl (UPDATE)
For the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl Accident, Ambientaria Records has gathered many Dark Ambient artists, including famous ones like Northaunt or Atomtrakt, for a Compilation project.
The album will be released on April 1st, 2011.
It will be sold at a low price.
All the benefits shall be reversed to Chernobyl Children International, a non-profit organisation with United Nations NGO status, in order to help people suffering from Radiation Poisoning.
Remember Chernobyl is a wonderful idea in my eyes. Unfortunately it won’t be featuring music by xun, since I stumbled upon it after the registrations were closed. But that doesn’t matter. It’s going to be a brilliant compilation, which every fan of ambient should own a copy of.
Hop over to Ambientaria Records’ Remember Chernobyl page to learn more.
These times, our thoughts are with Japan and the Japanese people. It is a horrible tragedy, with so many facets of horror to it. Of course, this will have a lasting effect on the whole world – in one way or another. Please note that Remember Chernobyl was planned long before the Tsunami hit Japan’s shores and Fukushima’s reactors burst. It is not possible to change the project’s direction now.
UPDATE:
Remember Chernobyl is out now! For more info on the project and how to buy a copy click here.
Label deal for xun
Hey folks,
it just so happens that xun is now signed by a french netlabel called Ambientaria Records. It specializes on dark ambient and closely related genres – so it’s the right place for me. And the best thing: Every single one of their downloadable releases is completely free of charge! That means you can download some free xun music soon. As of now, my release was loosely scheduled for may. I’ll keep you posted about things.
Take care,
Phil

Happy New Year!
A very Happy New Year to everyone who reads this.
I won’t talk about the last year, because it is already gone. Like one of those little reverberating sounds in a dark-ambient piece… – The new year, however, will bring some new and exciting things for everyone who is interested in my work. There will definitely be some shortfilm releases that I had the honor of being part of the production (musically other otherwise). And of course there will be more music! Stay tuned and follow me on twitter for quick&easy news and things.
Again: I wish you a very Happy New Year and take care!

He’s done it again.
My friend Markus from Gedankenpolaroid uploaded a promo website for the Glassworks short film project which is some months into postproduction at this point. You’ll remember we filmed it in may 2010.
“But it’s grown into quite more than that. As the story unfolds in the Glassworks short film, you’ll probably find yourself asking ‘what the hell?’. What are these numbers all about anyway? Well …
I am happy to announce that you will be able find out all about it.”
Quote by Markus Haken
The official Glassworks promo website has launched now! Go check it out, twitter it, tell your friends, tell your friend’s friends, print the address on a t-shirt or just scream it out loud on the street!
Go sign up for the mailing list on www.glassworksmovie.com for first-hand insight about the Glassworks short film. You can also check back there for future teasers & more.
If you want to support our project or have general questions about it, send an email to mail@gedankenpolaroid.com.
As always you can read Markus’ blog post for more information.
